Check out some coverage the team received during the ride through Courtenay!
Our final highlight video from the tour!
Our Day 5 Rider of the Day goes to Elizabeth Hamilton!
500km concurred and over $200,000 raised for Jumpstart! It was an amazing ride with a great team of people and Liz was one of them. She lead the pack for most of the ride but was always there to lend a hand and encourage her teammates. We’ve been following Liz’s blog, Spin-Stir, and sharing some of her posts from the road.
The team crossed the finish line and celebrated their achievement together at the Vancouver Canadian Tire Store. On her way back to the hotel, Liz hit some wet train tracks and took a spill. She sustained a dislocated elbow but managed to get it taken care of and still showed up for the final team dinner! For her heart, dedication and bravery, we’ve given her the title of rider of the day for the last day of the tour.
We wish you a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see more posts from your other competitions and events.
Don’t forget, you can still donate to Jumpstart by texting the word ‘JUMP’ to 45678. A $5 charge will show up on your next months cell phone bill and all of the proceeds go towards giving kids a sporting chance.
WE DID IT! We have finished our 500KM Pedal for Kids Bike Tour across BC! There was lots of rain, but even more smiles and memories.
We would like to thank all of the riders, all of our sponsors and most importantly, a BIG thank you to everyone who donated to Jumpstart. With your support we surpassed our goal and raised $204, 161.49!!!
This was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to do it all over again next year. Thank you to Great Explorations for designing and guiding the tour. Thank you to all of the Canadian Tire/ Mark’s Work Wearhouse dealers who hosted us at their stores and a big thank you to all of our Canadian Tire/ Jumpstart team members in their respective head offices that helped make this all possible.

Our day 4 Rider of the day is Dan Thompson, he lead the pack the whole way and even did a little extra! Here is Dan’s blog post describing his day 4 adventure.
Powell River to Sechelt. A great day: NO RAIN!!!!! We started off in Powell River at 7am and rode most of the way with the tour du ‘Coast Cops for Cancer’ riders.
They were really cool: music police motorcycle escorts - the whole bit.
As we got off the ferry we were faced with a 40 k plus ride to Sechelt that had no shortage of hills. This was probably the toughest ride of the week. However there were no flats and no injuries. Michael Strachan was a trooper after his mishap on the way to Courtenay – with two cracked ribs and all, he even went up the mondo hill with a few other wayward souls.
We had a great picnic lunch in Halfmoon Bay. The adventurous Ward and Mike even went for a swim in their Jumpstart unitards! The final 14 kilometres into Sechelt up Redroofs Road once again had lots of hills. We finally arrived in Sechelt and headed to the Canadian Tire store where we had a Pedal Festival featuring a bike clinic, spin to win with a donation, kids obstacle course and the Trials Stars performing their one of a kind trials act.
We also gave 2 Kids Activity Kits to the Pender, Sechelt and Gibson community centre and got a great card signed by the kids.
After a great day, we are getting rested up for the final push into Vancouver. Team Jumpstart is closing in on 500KM. What a ride!
Day 2 & 3 were a little on the wet side, but overall they were amazing days. With your support the team helped raise even more money for Jumpstart and was able to share more Kids Activity Kits in various communities across BC.
We hope you enjoy the Day 2 & 3 highlight reel.
